Practical Color Magick

Raymond Buckland

Introduction

Color is used in every part of our lives

Red, green, and blue-violet are the 3 most basic light colors

Chromology = the study of color

Chromopathy = the use of color for therapy

Color in Meditation

Mediation is used for growth and advancement

It’s listening to your inner self or higher consciousness

Using meditation and Yoga, we send healing to vital centers or chakras

Perineum = red

Suprarenal = orange

Lyden = yellow

Thymus = green

Thyroid = blue

Pineal - indigo

Pituitary = violet

Meditate at the same time every day

Sit or lay with your spine straight

Tip your head in each direction and breathe deeply 3 times

Rotate your head clockwise and then counterclockwise 3 times

Relax and imagine your body encased in white light

Let it slowly turn red and into a cone, pointed at your perineum

Let yourself absorb the light as it turns back to white

Repeat this process for all 7 chakras

Color in Psychic Development

Take 7 colored pieces of the same size, shape, and material

Go through the breathing exercise outlined earlier

Close your eyes and mix up the pieces

Keeping your eyes closed, pick one up and try to sense the color

Warm vs cool, pleasant vs unpleasant, etc.

Open your eyes and take note of the actual color

Keep a chart (Color, Sense, and Sensations) of the actual color, what you sensed, and what you felt

Colors do have traditional meanings

Red (strength, health, vigor, sexual love, danger, charity)

Orange (encouragement, adaptability, stimulation, attraction, plenty, kindness)

Yellow (persuasion, charm, confidence, jealousy, joy, comfort)

Green (finance, fertility, luck, energy, charity, growth)

Blue (tranquility, understanding, patience, health, truth, devotion, sincerity)

Indigo (changeability, impulsiveness, depression, ambition, dignity)

Violet (tension, power, sadness, piety, sentimentality)

Take 7 different color pieces and put them each in an envelope

Put an envelope under your pillow and just before going to sleep (hypnogenic) try to sense the color

Write it down quickly

In the morning, try to sense the color as you wake up (hypnopompic) and write it down along with any feelings or sensations

Then look at the actual color

Repeat for 21 nights

Pull all the eights, nines, and tens from a deck of playing cards

Place them face down and try to sense which is red and which is black

Work left to right, do it at least 10 times, and keep track of results

Color in Divination

Is it accurate?

Does it work for you?

Book: "A Pocket Guide to the Supernatural" by Raymond Buckland

Have a specific divination area

Use different color lights to see what color you work best with

It should make you feel calm

For crystal ball gazing

  • Think of a question and pinpoint it down to a specific feeling or emotion
  • Connect that with a color
  • Try to project that color onto the crystal ball

Color in Everyday Living

Overall, I felt that Buckland's "Practical Color Magic" was a great introduction to colors and magic(k). Colors correlate to everything in our lives and provide us with interesting images. They make life more meaningful and exciting. Unfortunately, Buckland doesn't mention anything about how to practice color magic(k) if a person is colorblind. Find what speaks to you. Use your gift of intuition, and then ask someone to help identify the color(s).

What's a way you want to practice color magic(k) in your life?
